How the app works

  1. Download the Visit Southwest Michigan app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Click the Log In icon to set up an account with your information, t-shirt size, and address. This is used to issue your prizes once you earn them.
  3. Use the Makers Trail Passport icon in the upper left corner of the app’s dashboard to view a map of the Makers locations and plan your visit. You can also enter Level 1 and add locations to your itinerary.
  4. When you arrive at a Makers Trail location, enjoy your food and drinks. Make sure to ask your server what the location’s stamp code is. Enter the Passport, select Level 1 and find the Makers’ name in the scrolling list. Click their name, then click submit code to earn that stamp.
  5. Repeat step four until you have visited and collected 10 stamp codes.
  6. Level 1 will say complete to reflect your progress. Level 2 will show the stamps you have collected so far. Now keep going!
  7. Repeat the same steps above to collect the next 10 stamps, just click into Level 2 instead of Level 1.
  8. Once you complete Level 2, move onto Level 3. Your previous 20 stamps will show there, too.
  9. To complete the Bonus Level, stay overnight in a participating hotel. When you check out, ask for a digital receipt to be emailed to you or make sure to get a paper receipt. Your receipt must have the same name as your app account. Ask the hotel for their stamp code. Click into the Bonus Level on the app, find your hotel in the scrolling list and select it to enter the code.
  10. Send a photo of your receipt or forward your digital receipt to
  11. Complete all the levels you would like to by May 31, 2023. Your passport will automatically be submitted to the Tourist Council for validation. All prizes will be mailed to the address on your account or you can pick them up depending on what you selected when creating your profile. Have fun!
